Autumn is in full swing and so are the cross-cultural events to enjoy in around San Diego. Today's events include a California Native American Day in Oceanside and the first day of the two-weekend El Cajon Oktoberfest. Tomorrow brings a Hispanic Heritage Month celebration at the Heritage of the Americas Museum, the XICANA block party at the CCA, the 7th Annual Bulgarian Folk Festival at St. Georges, the CRY Dandiya celebration at CCA. Sunday, the House of Lebanon will hold their annual Lawn Program. On Monday, there will be a Moon Festival celebration at the Carmel Valley Library. Tuesday brings a Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration and Festival in Chula Vista. Wednesday, the month-long Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration and Festival kicks off in Old Town. Also on Wednesday, there will be a USD Filipino American History Month celebration. Next Friday, the La Mesa Oktoberfest gets underway, and a Hispanic Cultural Heritage Celebration takes place at the Kroc Center.
Music and dance events include concerts of reggae, Afro-Cuban Jazz, Chicano music, Zimbabwean music, Ukrainian classical music, Argentinean Indi-Pop, Cali-Mex and Cumbia, a belly-dance showcase, eclectic world music style by Camarada, French Classical, and Brazilian rock and roll!
Film events include Hidden City Film Festival, National Theatre Live: Inter Alia, and the Ristretto Shorts Night by SDiFF.
Book and Literature events include two different French Literary and Arts celebrations.
Theater options include the ongoing play Thorn and Petal at Trinity Theater Company, and next Thursday, at the Lycee Francais de San Diego, Stupeur et Tremblements.
Other notable events in the coming days include the 14th Annual San Diego International Dragon Boat Race at Mission Bay, the San Diego Sustainable Food Festival in Balboa Park, the Taste of Japan at Embolden Beer Company, a talk on First-Gen Success Beyond Imposter Syndrome at CSUSM, and last but not least, a Bollywood Runway Fashion Show at Royal India!
